• There is no reminder email so please write down the location, time and dates of the course.
• I cannot give refunds to courses and workshops, however, you can gift the whole experience to someone who can attend
10 Week Courses – Wednesdays 6:30-8:30
Each week you will be taught a specific skill in ceramics, building up a bank of work that will be fired for you to keep. The sessions are: Throwing, more throwing, trimming and handles, slab-building a vase, underglaze decoration, glazing, sgraffito plates, personal project and glaze remaining pieces.
Reasonable use of coloured slips and clear glaze included as well as one coloured house glaze. If you'd like to use a different coloured glaze this must be purchased yourself. Glaze must be fired to 1260 cone 9. No dribble glazes. I reccomend Mayco brush-on glazes but I can help you to choose an appropriate glaze during the session with time for delivery.

5 week club, Pottering Around – Tuesdays 6:30-8:30
This is a self-lead club where you can make anything you like with professional support and space to ask questions. Ideas and direction come from you – I can help you make it happen. Students must have done at least one workshop with me before. Reasonable use of coloured slips and clear glaze included. If you'd like to use a different glaze this must be purchased yourself. Wheel Workshops – Spend 3 hours on your own wheel making as much as you can. Choose 3 pieces to get fired with a glaze of your choice (two to choose from).

6 Week Wheel Throwing Courses - Thursdays 6:30-8:30

Learn the complete process of making pottery on the wheel in a relaxed six-week course with Ruth, The Tamar Valley Potter. With just four places available, you'll have your own wheel and plenty of individual tuition as you build your skills week by week. We'll start with the fundamentals of centring and throwing before moving on to trimming, shaping, handles, sgraffito decoration and glazing. For complete beginners and practiced potters!
Timetable:
• W1: Wedging + Throwing • W2: Trimming + Throwing • W3: Trimming + Throwing + Handles • W4: Trimming + Throwing + Decoration (optional) • W5: Trimming + Handles + Decoration (optional) • W6: Glazing
Included:
• 5kg of reclaimed ‘practice’ clay • 5kg of smooth white stoneware clay • 5kg of grogged, flecked stoneware clay • 4 stoneware glazes (including clear) • Opportunity to decorate pots using a variety of coloured slips and/or sgraffito technique • All tools and equipment including a wheel each • Upto 8 pots fired in the kiln (bisque and glaze firings) • Storage and drying space for work produced • Tea, coffee and biscuits at each session
Optional Extras:
• If you’d like to keep more than the included 8 pots, there is a £6 charge per additional pot to cover glaze and firings. • Extra clay can be bought by 5kg or 10kg. 10kg reclaim=£5 10kg smooth white =£13 10kg grogged, flecked =£20

Choose between a wheel workshop or handbuilding workshop for your private event:
• Wheel workshop – Share 4 pottery wheels between the group and make as much as you can in 3 hours, rotating so everyone has a few goes. Choose one piece each to get fired with a glaze of your choice (two to choose from). To have more pieces fired and glazed is £5 a piece after the initial one each.

• Hand building – We shall predetermine what the group will make. This could be sgraffito plates, piggy banks or something else entirely! The group will be guided through each step, then their work will be fired and glazed.
